About the Role

The Morning Guest Services & Breakfast Operations lead is the face of the Starrett House at the start of each day. This role focuses on delivering high-quality culinary and housekeeping services while ensuring the property is pristine for guests and upcoming events. This position requires active collaboration with the Events Manager and Maintenance team to maintain the high standards of this historic venue.

Requirements

  • Breakfast & Guest Interaction: Prepare and serve appealing breakfasts following food safety standards. Interact warmly with guests, answering questions about the property’s history and the Port Townsend area.

  • Housekeeping: Perform thorough cleaning and turnover of guest rooms following check-outs. Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and all public common spaces.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Maintenance team to report and track repairs and with the Events Manager to ensure public spaces are prepared for scheduled functions.

  • Operations & Safety: Manage laundry and linen organization. Conduct property rounds to ensure readiness and security.

  • Mission Advocacy: Communicate the relationship between the historic Starrett House and Bayside Housing’s community mission to guests and visitors.

  • Cross-Training: Participate in cross-training for the afternoon shift to ensure seamless operational coverage and support for the wider Bayside staff.


Required Experience:

  • Valid Food Handler’s Card required.

  • 1+ year of experience in hospitality or customer service.

  • Willingness and ability to make sound judgments without on-site supervision.

  • Strong history of reliability and dependability.

  • Must pass a background check and maintain a clean driving record.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work effectively with Maintenance, Events, and general Bayside staff to achieve shared organizational goals.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Ability to work independently while remaining a cohesive part of the Bayside team.

  • Knowledge of (or a strong desire to learn) Victorian history and local Port Townsend attractions.

  • Commitment to safety, security, and the community-driven mission of Bayside Housing.

  • Must provide three (3) professional references who can verify a consistent track record of dependability, personal integrity, and excellence in guest-facing roles.
